Cardinal Sarto Elected Pope Pius X in Rome

In Rome on August 4 Cardinal Sarto was elected Pope and took the name Pius X. He appeared on the basilica balcony at 6:10 p.m. to bless the crowd amid cheers. Formerly patriarch of Venice, he is praised for purity, modesty, and liberal church views. a fisherman's ring was used in sealing the election.

Heimdal Lodge of Sons of Norway Formed in City

A new lodge of the Sons of Norway, Heimdal, was organized last night at M W A hall. General rainfall across central state on morning reports

Telephone reports from several parts of the state indicate a general rain this morning in the middle portions. Mayville and nearby areas experienced cut lines at 11 o'clock due to the storm, with the storm seemingly more severe in those sections.

Frank Nye Harry Mead and Henry Deutch, attorneys for ex Mayor A Ames, convicted of bribery in office, will argue a motion for a new trial before Judge Elliott this week. Four Die as Turbulent Storm Hits Chicago

A severe storm swept Chicago with a tornado-like appearance yesterday afternoon. Four people died: Henry Wagner struck by lightning while fishing, Kate Andreas killed at home by a lightning strike, Louis Anderson fatally shocked by electricity, and James Newman who died after the heat and storm at the county hospital. Torrential rain accompanied the event.
