New Game Law And Grain Outlook In 1905
The new game law imposes penalties up to ten dollars for selling prairie chickens grouse or deer or for shipping them for sale within or outside the state. Wild duck or goose shooting is banned May 1 to Sept 2, with snipes and plovers allowed year round. Night hunting with artificial light from boats is forbidden, as is shooting from float devices. Beavers and otters may not be killed before Nov 10 1905. Deer hunting with dogs and use of spring guns traps and devices are prohibited. Killing more than 25 game birds at once is unlawful as is killing insect eating or song birds. Non resident license law changed. The hat makes the man. The Lanpher hat makes you. There is great interest in grain for feeding with reports from Manitoba to northern Iowa showing high yields. 50 to 60 bushels per acre reported in drought areas, some as high as 140 bushels from two sacks of seed. Speltz analyzed by Prof Snyder shows similar composition to barley and oats.
