Land sales in city push prices above market value
The past week featured banner land sales in the city with prices high yet still far below the land’s worth. Sums paid were 100 to 200 percent higher than comparable values, signaling bidding tensions despite high asking prices.
Land Sales Reflect County Boom and Cash Purchases
The week saw large cash land deals with old county residents dominating buyers. John W. Maher sold 960 acres near Keith station to Pius Durbin for about 200 dollars per acre. Michael Noonan bought 320 acres in Grand Harbor for 4,000 dollars and sold half section in Noonan township for 3,200 dollars. James Horne purchased 400 acres in Dry Lake for 7,000 dollars and sold 20 acres in Cato for 3,200 dollars. Mrs. Kjelbertson bought the Frank Webber lakefront farm for 2,000 dollars. John Daeley bought 160 acres in 156-61 for 1,600 dollars. All deals were cash. For sale or exchange two imported Clydesdale stallions, about 1800 pounds each, offered by A. R. Warxrr of Devils Lake, N. D.
