Florida MFC Pushes Two King Mackerel Bag Limit Plans
The Florida Marine Fisheries Commission sticks to a two fish per person per trip bag limit for King Mackerel with a 2.94 million pound commercial quota and area gillnet closures. Public hearings October 10 12 in Naples will discuss the rules before submission to the Governor and Cabinet later year. The commission cites conservation needs though and notes possible future amendments if stocks rebound. A separate conference on Red Drum and Spotted Seatrout runs November 15 16 in St. Petersburg, highlighting ongoing sport versus commercial fishery conflicts across states including Texas and Alabama.
