Gulf of Mexico billfish 1984 fishing effort led by Destin
The National Marine Fisheries Service released 1984 Gulf billfish catch and effort data. Destin topped ports with 5 345 hours trolling and 212 fish reported, including 55 Blue Marlin, 136 White Marlin, 17 Sailfish, and 4 Swordfish. Total northern Gulf billfish raised 9 to 1 757 caught or released. peak trolling hours were 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. with blue marlin and sailfish showing strong results.
