MPO plans to trim wish list of signs in Fort Walton Niceville
Officials of the Fort Walton Niceville area MPO say they will reduce a 60 location wish list for informational and directional signs to gain DOT approval. Subcommittee chair Larry Patrick says trimming starts in October with focus on major intersections and overhead signs to aid strangers and direct drivers toward facilities and routes. Destin requests also go to the DOT for more signs to Old 98 beaches and Emerald Coast Parkway features, plus guardrails near the Beach Club pond.

Okaloosa May Lose Child Sexual Abuse Treatment
The Okaloosa Guidance Clinic faces loss of its Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Team due to a $14,000 local funding gap needed to match $42,000 state support. Without service, 130 intrafamily abuse cases risk denial, hindered prosecutions, and continued trauma to abused children. Donations to Okaloosa Guidance Clinic are urged by September to avert staff layoffs.
