Destin prepares Shoreline Plaza a 75,028 square foot shopping center on Highway 98 at Gulf Shore Drive. Folmar & Associates of Mobile Alabama plan 15504 square feet of drugstore and over 59,000 square feet of upscale retailers offices and two restaurants with groundbreaking in November 1984 and a May 1985 grand opening.

County acts on dump cleanup after anonymous tip
Okaloosa County began removing trash and erecting No Dumping signs on Airport Road following a complaint from an anonymous Destin resident. Commissioner Mike Mitchell said the board ordered signs posted in July. Environmental Officer Tom Phillips noted three cleanups in under two years and urged higher fines and witness reporting to deter dumping.
