Destin Building Permits Rise in August as Okaloosa County Climbs

Okaloosa County reports a jump in August construction starts with Destin issuing 39 permits totaling about 737000 and eight new residences at 415980. July had higher Destin starts, while the county south end rose to 54 million in August. The largest Destin permit was 323700 for a Crystal Beach condo by Wayne Clark and Elmer Cook. Wendy’s restaurant permit stood at 185000, with other small projects including a 36000 pool and spa and a 30000 underground utility line project. The average new residence cost rose to 51997 from 41347.
