Sheriff Larry Gilbert announced overtime limits after 86 hours in 14 days triggered time and a half pay. Seven deputies were hired, boosting the 1985 1986 budget to 5.5 million dollars with 317000 allocated for overtime. Overtime now restricted to major cases like homicides or robberies, and a new shift will take over to maintain case clearance rates.
