The 444 room Riviera Plaza Hotel, a 17 story tower with meeting rooms health club and shopping, is slated as Destin’s first Development of Regional Impact project. The 15 acre site on U S 98 near the old Riviera Beach Motel will undergo two phases with additional 17 story towers in the second phase.

DER officials report nitrogen and phosphorus from Destin Water Users percolation ponds polluting Old Pass Lagoon via groundwater runoff.
