Destin Seafood Festival opens on U S 98 with 157 booths offering gumbo fish fried shark alligator and more. The Fifth Annual Rodeo Run starts at 8 am at Clement Taylor Park followed by kids race trophies. Windsurfing sailing regattas a break dancing contest and a bike race at Taylor Park Sunday add to the festival lineup with sponsors Bob's Bicycle Center and the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club.

New 98 Ready In A Year Says DOT
Ingrid Kreis reports the DOT says Highway 98 will be ready in about a year with Couch Construction setting a small asphalt plant to utilize 140000 tons of asphalt for a 7.4 mile four lane stretch from Airport Road in Destin to west of Sandestin Resort. Work since May clears a wooded corridor in south Okaloosa and Walton counties with DOT engineering aid.
