Commissioners deny request to open Oleander Avenue as public road
Okaloosa County Commissioners rejected a petition from Destin residents asking to open Oleander Avenue as a public road. County engineer Dave Heinrich described the 50 foot by about 500 foot right of way as desert with sand and shrubs and said it has never been maintained. Vice-chairman Mike Mitchell said the county does not open platted roads and will respond to the letter accordingly.
