Destin Gains Seat on Fort Walton Beach MPO Board
Destin gains a voice on the Fort Walton Beach Urbanized Area Metropolitan Planning Organization as Gov. Graham approves adding Destin to the 11th voting seat. City leaders cite one fourth of the county tax base and growing needs for prioritized road and bridge projects. The council also reduced City Attorney Jerry Miller’s retainer from 750 to 500 dollars monthly, with adjusted hours and availability for meetings. A disputed airport runway issue was deemed not to affect the Instrument Landing System installation, and a planned 24 foot storage building is considered not to obstruct the runway.
