Runnels Urges Funding For Northwest Coast Plan Endorsed

City To Get A Second Voting Precinct
Okaloosa County will split the single Destin precinct, creating a second polling place at First United Methodist Church on Beach Drive for residents east of Beach Drive to the Walton County line including Holiday Isle. Voters west of Stahlman Avenue will stay at Destin Community Center.

An aide to Rep. James Ward said two Destin bills, including a measure to add the Destin Fire Control District ad valorem tax levy to the City of Destin for state revenue sharing, were sent to the House floor for a Thursday vote. The bills, assigned HB 1400, would set 1984 as the base year for the 3 mill equivalent needed for revenue sharing and would require the city to generate the required tax equivalent despite a 2 mill charter limit.
