Destin Incorporation Bill Faces Tax Exemption Debate

Destin incorporation HB 1276 moves to House Finance and Taxation after Community Affairs approval. The bill seeks non tax of lands on Moreno Point barrier island under federal Coastal Barrier Resources Act, debated for constitutional alignment and potential amendments. County Amends Beach Solicitation Ban After Ruling

Okaloosa County Commission unanimously passes emergency amendment to the beach ban on commercial activity. The measure requires proof that the activity protects health and welfare and will not harass or interfere with the public. Plan to Route Stormwater From Highway 98 To Bay

State agencies finalize a plan to redirect runoff from the four lane Highway 98 away from Old Pass Lagoon toward Choctawhatchee Bay with a drainage system that includes detention ponds and grassed swales. If approved, a permit will be issued after public comment.
