Committee weighs landing system at Destin Airport
Destin Airport could gain an Instrument Landing System if funds and airspace allow approval from Eglin Air Force Base. The panel estimates a used unit at 85 000 dollars, new at 97 000 dollars, with installation total about 125 000. ADAPT funds would cover 110 000, leaving 8 000 to 12 000 locally. A 400 signatory petition opposes ILS due to fear of larger jets. The committee also seeks county financial records on airport spending.
