The author details a six week absence spent chasing a mast delivery saga for a dismasted sailboat. After delays from Proctor Masts Ltd and a drydocked freighter, Spanish authorities impounded the mast in Las Palmas. He travels with Lee Borthwick and meets Irish crew members John Petch and Paul Crowley, rents a condo in Puerto Rico, and recalls beach culture on Gran Canaria while awaiting the mast release and delivery. He hints at reporting on the mast purchase next issue.
The piece argues for a four lane cross bay bridge replacing the two lane design on U S 331, criticizing DOT limits and MPO planning. It urges alternative site consideration, new financing options, and quick action to avoid delay, congestion, and weak evacuation routes amid hurricane risk.
County commissioners discussed Crestview State Attorney Office vermin complaints and a $10,000 judge computer request denied for lack of purpose. A deposition in a legal office followed as lifeguard issues at Marler Park prompted talk of controlling loud electronic music disturbing nearby beachgoers.
A playful radio mock interview shows Fritz and the Vice President discussing a potential running mate and a campaign ticket. They joke about generation gaps, travel, and a hypothetical Fritz Chit duo with a San Francisco vacation, while noting the press interest and logistics ahead of the convention.
