Destin leads Okaloosa County with a 1984 tax roll of 508 million, up from 430 million. The county totals 2.1 billion, with Destin accounting for 23.97 percent of the base. New construction in Destin reached 52 million, about a third of the county’s 167 million. Prices for condominiums continued rising amid a 4 percent base-rate increase and value growth.

Condo boom in Destin South Walton market outpaces last year
Industry analyst William Hutchison Sr of Florida Realty says the Destin South Walton condo market remains strong through May 1984 with sales reaching $53.6 million and 557 units sold, 24 percent ahead of the prior year.
