July 4 holiday closures affect chambers and offices
Local chambers of commerce and county state offices will close on Wednesday July 4 in observance of the national holiday. Destin and Walton chambers plan to reopen Thursday July 5 with specific hours and lunch closures noted. Okaloosa Walton counties will observe the holiday and resume operations Thursday. State departments and the LOG office also close Wednesday and reopen Thursday with standard hours.

Okaloosa County Denies Seafarer Pool Deck Variance
The Okaloosa County Commission on June 26 denied a pool deck extending three feet over the Coastal Construction Control Line at Seafarer Condominium on Highway 98. Commissioner Mike Mitchell warned such a allowance could create a broader problem. Seafarer’s representative cited a four foot pool apron per state law, forcing a design change. The board approved Inlet Cove Condominium with no jurisdiction over a public access dispute with The Quays. Palmetto Plaza shopping center at Palmetto Street and Highway 98 also approved.
