Commission Hears Proposal For Annex In Walton County

Walton County commissioners heard a proposal for an $825,000 courthouse annex to be built opposite the main courthouse in DeFuniak Springs. Landover Properties Inc presented a two story building lease plan of five years with five year renewal options. First year rent would be 117,150 dollars for 16,500 square feet with annual adjustments tied to CPI and other increases. The deal includes a county option to buy in the first three years, though rent does not apply toward the purchase. The board remained noncommittal and did not discuss a prior South Walton annex plan.
