Destin Finance Committee Considers License Fee Increases
Destin's Finance Committee plans a citywide survey to estimate revenue from new business, professional and occupational licenses. Members discussed raising many fees from 25 dollars to 50 or more, with debates on charter boats, commercial fishing, coin operated machines, taxis and professional licenses. A subcommittee will report after surveys and a July 11 recommendation to City Council.

Relief in Sight for Brooks Bridge Traffic
Planning for a U S 98 and Santa Rosa Boulevard project moves ahead as DOT estimates construction between July 1, 1987 and June 30, 1988 with a rough $7 million cost. The work will cause major delays during at least one summer season and span one to two years, with completion possibly in 1989. Proposals include traffic islands or an elevated roadway. the bridge itself remains outside the project scope. Public meetings are slated for next winter and a July 1986 hearing will precede final design.

Bridge And Sidewalk Projects In 1985 86 Plan
The Metropolitan Planning Organization approved the 1985 1986 Transportation Implementation Plan with about $2.2 million for projects including an $81,000 sidewalk north of U S Highway 98 from the Donut Hole to Gulf Shore Drive. Rehabilitation on East Pass Bridge is planned for 1989 1990 with a $73,000 safety barrier update and an electronic signaling system. Major items include resurfacing U S 98 from Destin Bridge to Santa Rosa Boulevard in 1987 1988 at nearly $1.5 million and a Santa nese Boulevard U S 98 intersection project in 1987 1988 estimated at $4.6 million to possibly reach $7 million.
