Diving Trip Disaster Off Destin Ends With Coast Guard Rescue
A Gulf diving trip aboard the Pescador 3 turned deadly when an unknown object rammed the port rudder and flooded the hull. Captains Dick Rosen and Jackie Arnold steered toward Destin as water rose, Coast Guard and nearby boats raced to the scene. Rescue crews freed passengers and battled the 10 to 12 inch hole, using pumps and improvised fixes before towing the crippled vessel to safety.
