Okaloosa County Commissioners picked Laurel Hill Landfill and Crestview Industrial Park as two north county sites for private storage and transfer of hazardous wastes. A public hearing May 28 in Shalimar noted ten tentative options. a June 18 decision formalized the two sites. A private contractor would need a Florida permit. wastes are stored up to 90 days before transfer out of state.

Tax plan would curb gifts to minors and Clifford trusts
President Reagan's tax overhaul would restrict how parents shelter property in trusts and gifts to children under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act. It would tax under age 14 trust income like parental income, allow up to 2000 dollars per child sheltered yearly, and require Clifford trusts to become revocable by 1986 unless distributions or irrevocable language exists.
