A jury finds Mary Anne Adler guilty of second degree murder for the June 4 1984 shooting of her husband Joel Adler after a week long trial. The 34 year old mother of two faces a possible sentence of three years to life in prison. Adler testified the death was accidental claiming fear and darkness during the incident. The state argued Joel Adler was leaving after discovering bad checks and worsening finances. The verdict followed testimony from friends bank officials and law enforcement experts.
Destin Harbor Board seeks to ban docks extending over 150 feet as endangered. An ordinance is targeted for July 1 approval. At the last meeting the council reluctantly approved a 250-foot Waterview Towers dock, prompting calls to delay further approvals until new rules pass.

It would set annual licenses from Oct 1 to Sept 30 with half price after April 1, include flat and graduated fees, and impose penalties. A later form must define professionals and regulatory rules, with transfers, replacements, and two public readings before council passage.
