Mary Ann Adler, 35, wife of former Okaloosa County deputy Walter Adler, was arrested on manslaughter charges in the shooting death of her husband. She said she fired after waking to a noise, thinking an intruder was in the house.

Holiday Beach Resorts filed a federal suit in Pensacola challenging Okaloosa County’s ban on commercial activity on Destin beaches. The firm argues the permit process is too broad and infringes free speech, seeking to strike down the ordinance or require specific, workable guidelines.
