DWU Battles Water Woes During Busy Fourth Of July Weekend
Destin Water Users faced well outages and delayed restorations last week as a 12 inch Main Street line work caused a chlorination incident. Well No 4 on Kelly Street was briefly out Wednesday and again for hours Thursday before service was restored. Main well on Benning Drive failed due to worn bearings. By Sunday peak use, all four wells operated at full capacity with a possible record water flow for the weekend. DWU officials noted the line sanitization caused a harmless but noticeable taste in restaurant beverages.
