Bad Checks Cost More At Base Exchange
Bad checks will incur a $15 surcharge at AAFES starting March. One in 200 checks bounced to the bank. 90 percent were eventually good, but the $14.93 handling cost and time reduced funds for Morale Welfare and Recreation. Maj. Gen. Richard D. Murray said the hike shifts the burden to bad check passers and avoids penalizing all customers.
