Lone Gunman Robs Destin Drug Store in Broad Day Heist
Betty Marler and pharmacist Billy Jones fought back fear as a white male, 30 to 40, about 6 feet tall and 185 pounds, armed with a small caliber revolver, robbed the Destin Drug Store around 6:30 p.m. He demanded narcotics including Quaaludes and ordered them to lie on the floor. Police tracked a vehicle afterward but found no connection. the bandit was last seen in dark pants and a windbreaker with ruddy hair. Both employees were unharmed.

Destin Man Feared Abducted During Hitchhiking Ordeal
Eddie Ray Arnold of 323 Mountain Drive says two white men abducted him after a bar stop on a trip from Inglis in Levy County. He claimed he was bound in a car trunk, released near a convenience store, then walked to a 7 11 to report the incident. Authorities describe the suspects and note the case could bring abduction and auto theft charges if in Levy County.

Four Named To DC Board In Destin Election
About 50 Destin residents braved cold wet winds to vote for four new Community Center directors. Elected were Capt. Tommy Green, Capt. Malcolm Patterson, Laurie Kelly and Bob McIlroy. Cecil Lawson and Gary Jarvis tied for fifth and may fill vacancies. Grace Jones and Ann and Henry Hinkel were elected to lifetime membership. Joy Dunlap reported on activities. Annual reports were given for the Destin Library American Legion Post 296 Destin Lions and the Destin Soccer board.
