Destin City Council Adopts Sunshine Open Meetings Resolution
The Destin City Council approved a Sunshine Law compliant resolution and formed a hurricane disaster plan committee. Acting City Attorney Floyd Blue drafted the measure, with seven members voting in favor and a committee chaired by Councilman Jimmy Vaughn including Paul Gardner Jim Chitwood and Maggie Flanagan. Minutes and meeting notices will be publicly available at the Rodeo Office temporary City Hall.

Destin Man Charged In Burglary
A Destin man, Bryce P. Wessells, 20, was arrested January 13 on burglary and resisting arrest charges after entering Robert Louis Dicker’s Chateau By The Sea apartment and taking $40. He fled as deputies arrived, was read his rights, admitted to the theft, and stated he had been told to stop eight times. He also admitted entering Margaret Buford’s apartment and taking her purse. Deputy Steve Whatmough led the investigation. Wessell is set to appear in Circuit Court on February 2 at 9 a.m.

Delegation to Hear Local Bills in Two Public Hearings
The West Florida Legislative Delegation plans public hearings in DeFuniak Springs and Shalimar to discuss local bills for the 1985 Florida Legislature. Destin Community Center Elects Eight New Directors
An overflow crowd of 130 Destin residents attended the annual meeting as eight new directors were elected to three year terms. New board members include Jerry Najarian Luther Rhodes Bill Shirah Liz Livingston Robert Wells Joe Mizell Marlene Boutwell and Sally LaChapelle joining prior directors. The board’s first meeting to elect officers is scheduled for 7 30 p.m. Thursday Jan 24 at the Community Center.
