Firms Bid For Airport Project In Destin
Three Panhandle firms bid to expand the Destin Airport aprons as part of renovations. Okaloosa Asphalt Enterprises submitted the low bid of 293,150.30 dollars, Gulf Atlantic Constructors the second low at 422,884.80, with Southeastern Engineering chief Tom Starkey to review bids before County Commissioners in Crestview choose a winner next week. In other business, the board retained four Destin streets as public right of way after discovering a 1960 vacation was invalid for lack of public notice. Oleander from Benning to Fleshman Drive drew debate as residents urged opening, but the board vacated all streets except Azalea, Benning, Stahlman, and Oleander segment.
