Destin Aims to Share Industry Funds Boost in 1983 Budget
Destin and Okaloosa County leaders push to recruit new industry through the Committee of 100 to benefit the entire county. The board funded over a third of the proposed 83 750 budget despite opposition from Commissioner Mike Mitchell who questions government backing of a chamber linked recruitment effort. The plan includes salaries, advertising, travel and a Florida council membership as the group expands its reach.
