Paul F. J. Krueger, a veteran perfumer, names his first American fragrance Spring Azure after Destin's blue Gulf waters and springlike climate. He moved to Destin after decades in Germany and France, first vacationing near Shoreline Towers and later setting up a temporary plant on Staff Drive in Fort Walton Beach. He recalls a butterfly landing on his shoulder during a solitary beach moment that inspired Butterfly Cosmetics International. He loves seafood, especially snapper, grouper, and flounder, and praises the eight months of sunshine here versus Europe’s winter. The fragrance line is displayed on shelves at his Destin operation.
