Destin Hires Two Paid Firefighters as Volunteer System Expands
Destin moves toward a paid staff with Assistant Fire Chief Hank Berry and firefighter Tony Carroll joining the department. Berry, $14,000 yearly, emphasizes organization and training to improve service and set stage for full paid staffing as volunteers remain backbone. Carroll, $13,000, notes manpower gaps and compares favorably with adjacent departments while remaining a certified EMT. Volunteers urged to join, contact fire station 837-8413.
