Florida Highway Patrol will enforce the mandatory seat belt law starting New Year’s Day after a grace period since its July effect. Drivers and front seat passengers must wear belts and drivers may be fined for unbelted front seat passengers under 16. violators face a $20 fine.
A Saturday parade in Fort Walton Beach organized by Carl Gustman of Mary Esther promotes U S intervention in Nicaragua. The event starts 11 a m at City Hall and ends at Liza Jackson Park where retired Col George Day will speak.
The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies today with a 30 percent chance of rain. Temperatures range from 55 to 60 degrees, winds from the northeast at 5 to 10 mph.
