Humana Inc gained a state certificate of need to build a 50-bed acute care satellite hospital in Destin. The facility will have 39,700 square feet, 47 medical surgical beds, 3 ICU CCU beds, and two operating rooms at an estimated cost of 7.5 million dollars. Pending appeals window and a tentative land purchase, Humana plans to acquire 18 acres on Airport Road and possibly buy 60 percent of 30 acres owned by White Wilson Medical Center for 990 thousand dollars, with White-Wilson physicians relinquishing substantial road frontage.
