A state mandated consent order between Destin Water Users and the Department of Environmental Regulation could allow developers with pre bought sewer taps to connect, pending DWU approval as its permit remains in limbo. DWU will assess exact available capacity to determine usable taps, with no new taps sold. The draft order lets capacity rise in increments once effluent disposal criteria are met, with a priority system for existing projects and planned developments.
Destin firm Multi-Systems of Destin Inc plans a national debut of the Vent-A-Seat deodorizer on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, with Navy ships and J C Penney showing interest. The electric unit attaches under the toilet seat, pulls odors through a vent, and may activate by siting or a wall switch.
