Godwin Home Damaged By Fire In Destin
The Buddy Godwin family residence at 608 Benning Drive suffered roof damage after a chimney fire spread into the attic. Assistant Fire Chief Hank Berry said smoke was minimized by fans and the house occupants including six children escaped unharmed. Estimated damage totaled 10 000 to 15 000 dollars. Fire crews arrived within minutes, with two trucks and 15 firefighters on scene. The fire was controlled by 8 45 p.m. and wall digging was needed to ensure insulation and flames were out.
