Destin Council Adopts Resolution Against Saltwater Licenses

The Destin City Council unanimously passed a resolution condemning saltwater fishing licenses. It states the move could harm tourism and the fishing economy and reduce state tax revenues. A copy will be sent to the 1987 Legislature for consideration in the upcoming session.

City Council Backs Rabies Shot Rule In Animal Control Ordinance

Destin City Council approved on first reading a revised animal control ordinance after revising it to require rabies vaccinations for animals. The change is needed because county rules won’t apply once the city adopts its own ordinance, and final approval is scheduled for Monday.

A five member Coast Guard District 8 team gave Coast Guard Station Destin top marks in all categories after a September inspection. Legion Petitions To Build Addition At Destin Post

Destin American Legion Post seeks to add an expansion with about 3000 dollars in materials after a building permit was revoked as a non conforming use in RUS zoning. The Legion circulating petitions, already gathering 110 signatures from nearby residents and user groups to obtain permission to proceed.

Suit Filed Against Country Music Star George Strait

Country star George Strait is named as defendant in a $380,000 foreclosure suit in Okaloosa County Circuit Court. First Federal Savings and Loan of Andalusia alleges Strait and wife Norma defaulted on a $376,000 promissory note from Sept. 26, 1985, tied to units 9 through 16 of Beal Parkway Executive Plaza, described as a condominium. The bank seeks $386,622 plus daily interest and a deeded foreclosure if funds aren’t recovered.
