Annex Site Appraised At 40 Percent Less Than Price
Walton county commissioners face a land purchase for a south county courthouse annex after an appraisal set the 35 acre parcel at 64 thousand dollars, well below the claimed 100 thousand dollar price. The first of two appraisals, by William Fagan, raises questions about value and potential condemnation if needed, with a second appraisal due next week. Margaret Benedict of Rivard Realty proposed alternative sites while debates on necessity and judgment continue.

Coastline control line up for Walton County review
Gov Graham and the Cabinet will hear the Department of Natural Resources recommendation for a new Walton County Coastal Construction Control Line. The revised line sits about 150 feet inland from the existing line and, despite resident opposition at hearings, is expected to be approved. DNR says the goal is quality coastal construction, not to halt building.
