Destin anglers report strong catches despite heat wave
In Destin reports over the weekend boats brought in a variety of fish. Redfish sparked a bridge bite with ten kept in minutes on live bait. Bottom trips yielded grouper snapper and triggerfish while Amberjack and King Mackerel dominated offshore. Overnight outings produced hefty grouper snapper scamp and amberjack totals.

Gulf Coast Masters Draws Big Marlins In Tight Tag Race
Water was clear off Key West as captains and crews reported multiple marlin catches. 14 year old Charlie Connerly on Miss Frances landed a 42 pound White Marlin while Captain William Frank Davis aboard Anastasia 3 reeled in White Marlin and Wahoo. Hawaiian Tropic brought a 270 pound Blue Marlin, Hank Folley on Undecided notched a 325 pound Blue Marlin, and Blanchita battled a 600 pound Blue Marlin for 10 hours before it escaped. Intensive Care won tag and release with three White Marlin and one Blue Marlin, followed by All Right in second and Challenge in third.

Destin Soccer Registration Under Way for Fall
Boys and girls aged six to thirteen may register for the Destin fall soccer program on Saturday August 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Destin Elementary School Cafeteria. Each player must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a birth certificate two photos and a 17 dollar registration fee.
