Okaloosa-Walton Center dedicates new higher education hub
The OWJC and UWF center stems from citizen effort and strong legislative support. A 1981 Fort Walton Beach task force under LeNon Anchors spurred needs studies, leading to a 1982 state allocation of 527,549 for Oakland Heights Elementary School renovation and center operations. The project, using Oak land Heights, gained approval and a lease with the county school system.
