DNR Scraps Walkovers At Henderson Beach Park Plan
Henderson Beach State Recreation Area may lose the two pedestrian crossovers as the state plans to cover Highway 98 with sand or relocate the road. DOT will hand the old right of way to DNR once the new four lane is in place, with observation towers possible if walkovers are dropped. Bids for the two relocation projects go out in late August, with completion timelines of up to 500 days for Destin and 400 days for Walton County.
