DWU halts spray irrigation plan amid regulatory concerns
DWU will hold off on installing spray irrigation in Indian Bayou due to DER concerns. In St. Petersburg residents push to hook into reclaimed water for spray irrigation, while Destin relies on spray irrigation to reduce percolation pond use. The system uses secondary treatment, alum clarification, filtration, and chlorination before golf course use, not drinking water quality, though Denver runs a pilot further treating effluent for possible drinking use.
