Kite Flyers Triumph Amid Gulf Winds at Destin Beach
Kite Robinson and Young fly large and small kites along the Destin shore, retrieving expensive sets after crashes. They tether lines to rails and boats, keeping a “graveyard” of aluminum sticks, while Young recalls winning a 20 foot Delta kite contest at a Louisville arts festival. Robinson also runs a Kentucky meat business, tying their hobby to a playful coastal routine.
