Local Option MPO Routes Gas Tax Proposal To Board
The Metropolitan Planning Organization asks Okaloosa County commissioners to consider a 1 to 4 cent per gallon gas tax to fund $7 million in road projects and a $16 million Wright Parkway Bridge. A 1-2 cent tax would require three votes. 3-4 cents needs four. Alternatives include a one cent five year sales tax and a bed tax for tourism projects. The MPO also seeks Destin City inclusion on the panel and will notify Destin City Council.
