Recital by Sage and Farrar Impresses Dermott Audience

Rev J Abner Sage pastor of the Methodist church and Miss Jane Farrar voice teacher at Dermott Public School presented a high school recital last Friday evening in the High School Auditorium. The program featured vocal numbers readings and violin pieces by Sage and Henry Duerson cornet by Witle Duerson and piano by Leona Raylorn. The audience expressed appreciation for the performers and their musical selections.

Sunday School Institute in Dermott Arrangements Complete

The Arkansas Sunday School Association will host a Sunday School Institute in Dermott on the 27th and 28th at the Presbyterian Church under the State Association’s auspices. Mrs. Ferguson of Little Rock will present the Primary Department work, with a strong program and delegates hoped from nearby towns and rad communities. Entertainment and Correspondence committees are named, and participation by interested Bible students is urged.

Six Oclock Dinner at Mrs Porter Delightful Evening

Saturday evening Det. with Mrs W. A. Porter hosted a six oclock dinner. The dining room was decorated with pink roses and dahlias. The table was bountiful with good things to eat. Guests included Mr and Mrs Woo Daniel, Miss Edna Carmical, Miss Jane Carmical, Will Daniel, and Chas Measel. The guests departed thanking the hostess for a most enjoyable evening.

Book Club Deli... Thursday Meeting Hosted by Mrs Keltser

The Rook Club held its regular Thursday afternoon meeting last week with Mrs L M Keltser as hostess. An afternoon of games and a salad course followed, served by hostess assistant Miss Leona Kayborn. Attendees included Mesdames Kimpel Hoffman Daniel Lowery Anders Moss Dushough Clarke Elliott Hanchey Neilsen and Miss Rayborn. The next gathering will be hosted by Mrs Roland Clarke.

Doings at the Presbyterian Church Rally Day Notes

Attendance at Sunday School was encouraging though below the hoped for one hundred. Rally Day was observed and an offering made to Sunday School mission work. Classes No. 3 and star classes featured. several new scholars enrolled.

Midweek Prayer Meeting Sees Lay Leadership Shift

The midweek prayer meeting will be led by laymen rather than the pastor. Both morning and evening worships drew attentive crowds. A duet by Miss Edna Carmacel and Mrs Orr delighted the evening audience. Congregational meeting planned to elect additional ruling elders. Majors R. B. Andrews and W. Bradford will visit next Thursday to inspect the local Arkansas National Guard company.

Faithful Workers Class Social Held by Mrs Daniel Host

The Faithful Workers Class of the Baptist Sunday School entertained by Mettie Delaney on Friday evening of last week. Fifteen guests attended in varied costumes representing different themes. Amusement followed as guests guessed each other's representations, with refreshments of sandwiches, ice cream and drinks served.
