District Deputy Twenty eight were enrolled as charter members with officers elected for the year including Oracle Dora Johnson and Vice Oracle Clara Ivey. Other posts filled by Bessie Morris, Alma Payne, Ona DeLaney and more, with Grace L Morris serving as Deputy and as delegate to State Camp.

Bible Conference draws praise in Dermott last week
The Bible Conference and Sunday School Institute held by Dermott churches drew strong praise. Dr J P Robertson lectured twice daily and proved a master of his subject while Rev Clem Baker impressed with his original and engaging Sunday School style. Attendees were inspired to see greater opportunities and responsibilities in church work.

Dermott Board of Trade Plans April Track Meet
The Dermott Board of Trade held its monthly meeting at the Chicot Hotel Assembly Hall. Plans for the April track meet were discussed with J. M. Cook tasked to prepare the track and a committee of Leeper and H. K. Blount to arrange bleachers at the athletic park. Mayor J. A. Bennett reported his highway trip to Little Rock.

Residence Burned on Daniels Avenue in Fire Loss
A house belonging to Mrs Ruby Higgins and occupied by Mr Frank Boyd on Daniels Avenue burned to the ground about nine o'clock Monday night. The family were away at Mrs Boyd's sister's home. Firefighters saved part of the furniture and prevented spread to nearby structures. Fire likely started from a defective kitchen flue. Loss partially insured.

Crap Game Raided Near Dermott by County Officers
Drew county officers with Deputy Sheriff Tom Biggs halted a craps game at the Leavitt mill west of Dermott last Saturday night, arresting sixteen men and three women, all colored, placed in Monticello jail awaiting trial set for today. A stiff wind and rain sleet snow made the night rough, suggesting more arrests could have followed in better weather.

Methodist Shop Talk Sunday School Attendance Drops
Sunday School attendance fell to its lowest level in over a year while Epworth League enjoyed a solid Sunday evening. Morning service was small but evening turnout improved. A teacher training class is forming and plans aim for Little Rock conference honor roll. Bro C N Baker’s week with the church blessed all. Dr Robertson’s Bible School talks left a lasting influence.
