Judge Henry Townsend, fifty, died suddenly in Arkansas City Saturday. Many Dermott and Masonic members traveled to Monticello Sunday for the funeral. Survived by wife and relatives including John W. Dickingson of Little Rock. Townsend had served as city raider, county judge and sheriff and was well known in Dermott as part of a local business firm. Interment occurred at Mortivella under M A Apied rer Co auspices.

Drainage Board Tours Ditch No 2 in Dermott
Engineer Ayers and Drainage Commissioners Trotter Daniels and Gregory visited Elisaville to inspect drainage ditch No 2 or the Bieral. They report five miles away the ditch beyond the vid brake is in good shape with eight to nine feet of water and debris to be cleared and burned when dry. The gap between Desha County ditch and our ditch is about miles long with a cleared right of way to be kept in good shape. The board meets the first Wednesday each month and will stay on the job between meetings.
