Local items list sales specials at Orr Hardware Co and The Alex theater on upcoming Tuesday. Notices include farm for sale, rental seeks, property moves, and various personal visits, with crime prevention and public notices amid a flood of business and cultural events.
Dermott Grocery & Commission Co under manager J. Hoffman installs a Burroughs Adding and Posting Machine operated by electric motor. The unit performs add, subtract, multiply and divide as a full automatic bookkeeper. Helen Adams of Pine Bluff becomes stenographer, replacing Petiete Johnson. Paul Hunter of Monticello hired as bookkeeper.
M. Scott, manager of Dermott Bottling Works, spent days in Little Rock securing new machinery for the recently acquired Delta Millworks building. He plans expansions including a grist mill, corn shelter, and corn crusher, plus a 2 hp and a 3 ph motor. A Ford truck body is on order for rush deliveries and the firm will run a coal yard with scales and bins from Orr Hardware.
Dermott’s three churches unite to host an annual Bible Conference alternating lecturers from denominations. Plans include Sunday school method lectures and a week long session starting Monday February 9. Rev J P Robertson of Morrilton Arkansas and Rev C N Baker will headline Bible and Sunday school talks respectively.
M A Auerbach praises Dermott through the Society for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis noting no other town of its size has match it. The Altrurian Club of Dermott sent 19.50 after selling Red Cross Seals, pushing total Dermott donations to 82 dollars, as reported by the Arkansas Gazette.

The board urges a legislature drafted bill to build a state highway from Grady south to the Louisiana line via Iree Mountsun McGehee and Dermott with a branch to Dermott Arkansas City. It asks the trade committee to amend the bill to continue straight south to Dermott.
W D Trotter cashier of the Exchange Bank & Trust Co attended a call meeting of the Arkansas Bankers Association in Little Rock. He sat with the Legislative Committee and joined the luncheon. The session considered the proposed bank guaranty bill and Gov Brough recommended extending the current law for at least two more years.
A Methodist church notes joint union prayer meeting with the Baptist Church last Wednesday. Sunday School shows improvement and home department work resumes with plans to push ahead. One accession to the church last Sunday. A campaign “One to Win One to Christ” runs to Easter. Army Testament Day marked by a large union service led by Bro W Rolle of the Presbyterian Church. $266 collected to buy Bibles for soldiers. Pastor.
