A Tuesday morning fire at the Jonah Moseley home, likely from a defective flue, started in the kitchen range around 5 o clock. Jason Moseley returned to find the upper portion of the house ablaze, with only a dresser, trunk, and some clothing saved. The house, owned by Dr. H. C. Stinson, was partially insured.
Friends learn Sunday afternoon marriage of Ernie B. Kimpel to Nell Ward of Eudora in Little Rock. Ward recently studied at Jackson Tennessee, en route home for holidays.
Dermott plans a Friday night tree lighting on Main street beside the old revival tent with Santa Claus revealing a grand display. The main celebration follows Christmas Eve at 7 o'clock with singing and a call for all residents to attend, plus fruit and candy for every child in town.
Notice is given of the annual stockholders meeting of Exchange Bank and Trust Company to be held at its Dermott Arkansas office on Tuesday January 9 1917 at 11 am for electing seven directors and other business. Dated Dermott Ark December 16 1916 W D Trotter Cashier.
A Methodist church meeting of Dermott committees shows united resolve for the municipal Christmas tree celebration. The Good Fellows fund needs more money to aid destitute families, with seven households reported in need and additional gifts urged. Residents are urged to donate at banks or in Sunday school boxes to aid clothing, groceries, toys, and other necessities.
